My forthcoming PhD dissertation examines the cultural Cold and the Soviet Union at the World Youth Festivals during the first decades of the Cold War period. It explores international and transnational interaction between the East and West from political, cultural, social and economic angles. The research is based on Soviet archival records, oral interviews and memoirs as well as visual materials.
